Asus U3 series notebooks are very compact and stylish notebooks with 13.3″ display and a full sized keyboard. Even though it lacks an optical drive, it remains a firm choice and provides a variety of features rarely seen on notebooks of its class.
Design
On the looks front, the Asus U3 is a very classy and elegant. The top of the lid is covered with a glossy black finish which gives it a stylish look. Whereas its inside is covered with a silver keyboard and it has eye-catching chrome highlights. Its fingerprint reader and a leather-like material surrounding the touchpad make the complete package of the laptop very attractive.
Core Information
The very first thing to notice in Asus U3 is the dual graphic setup. With just tapping a small switch on the side frame of the notebook, the U3 gives you the opportunity to select amongst the incorporated Intel graphics, or a more powerful 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G. This saves a lot of battery and you don’t need the battery-hungry NVIDIA chip. But you are looking up-on this laptop as a game-board then you are mistaken this device is not made for playing games.
Cutting Edge Technology
Just above the display, there’s a 1.3 megapixel webcam, with headphone and microphone ports to be found on the left side of the frame. The display is crisp and lucid and the LED backlight looks great for multimedia, particularly video substance. Contrast and color is excellent and the glossy finish combined makes Asus U3 a must have laptop.
For wireless connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g and n are provided, in addition to Bluetooth 2.0. The U3 has all the usual ports; three USB 2.0 ports, an ExpressCard slot, S-Video out, a memory card reader and FireWire. Amazingly, ASUS has further added a single HDMI port and an eSATA port which are very useful.
A set of other programs in general which are kept aside for higher end notebooks are built-in HSDPA and an incorporated GPS receiver is present in the Asus U3. However you get an external DVD multi recorder in the sales package. Keep in mind though that you’ll only be left with two USB ports when this is attached it does consume battery life drastically. The 6-cell battery returned a more favorable but still not outstanding 2hr 57min. Do note that adjusting power plans in Windows Vista’s control panel should result in somewhat better statistics.
Conclusion
The Asus U3 Series Notebook is a good buy but gamers and multimedia enthusiasts are better advised to take a look at the other available models before settling with this Asus U3.

Sneak Peek
Asus G1S Notebook comes with a good gaming performance along with maintaining mobile capability. Although these kinds of notebook are very low performing on the battery front, but the Asus G1S is an exception because it provides excellent multimedia and gaming presentation while being portable with good battery life.
Design
While talking of the screen there is a minor imperfection, but it is beautiful if you ignore that part. There is a slight leakage on the bottom part of the screen but it is visible only if you look closely at it.
Core Information
When you look at the keyboard, it is very compact with the intuitive key placement. Even the palm rest looks great with its aluminum finish. The buttons on the keyboard of Asus G1S notebook are also made of brushed aluminum and they look and feel solid and are great when pressed. They do not feel like the button made of despicable plastic that get loose after some use.
Cutting Edge Technology
The main problem occurs with the speaker in Asus G1S. This notebook has a below average quality of in-built speakers. Even if you are sitting near the Laptop it sounds as if the sound is coming minutely from another room. But if you attach the device with headphones or external speakers it works perfectly.
Conclusion
The Asus G1S has been designed very carefully. The only drawback with this laptop is the placement of the USB ports. In this laptop they have been placed at the back of it. Most of the laptop users often make use of side-line devices, clumping the USB ports in one location is not the finest thing to do.
Overall the Asus Laptops has excellent start up time and is very responsive. Hence it is a good buy with in the average use.

The Asus S6 series comes in a variety of leathers. The Asus S6Fm Notebook comes in lighter brown leather option. The leather gives a first-class perceptible feel. Also, it gives the laptop a different look from top to bottom. At opening prospect, it appears to be a classy folder or diary. But with the Asus badge on it you can make out that it isn’t a diary. The laptop is small and has its external ports well thought-out.
Design
On the left side of the laptop you find a dust cover. It helps to keep out the dust from the laptop but due to it most of the ports on this side of the notebook remain hidden.
Key Features
The hidden ports which are hidden under the dust flop are 2 USB ports, modem and LAN ports, and a MIC port. One good thing over here is that the VGA out port and headphone jack are outside the cover for the reason that these are used more frequently. The wireless connectivity switch is also on the left side. For starting the Bluetooth and the Wi-Fi you just need to slide the switch. The right side of the notebook contains of other media readers and the third USB slot. The most of the space on the right side is occupied by the DVD-RW drive, Card Reader, and the PCI Express card slot. On the backside of Asus S6Fm notebook you will find AC port and mini Fire Wire port on the left and right side respectively. You can only add RAM without considerable problems.
Core Information
The Asus S6Fm notebook runs on 6 cell battery pack. The battery lasts for about 3.5 hours with moderate use, so you can say that it has an average battery life.
With the notebook you will get an Optical USB mouse, LCD cleaning material, Laptop bag, Modem cable, Composite video cable, Cable tie, Charger and CDs and manual.
Cutting Edge Technology
Though this Asus Laptops comes with Windows Vista Business, the Core Duo processor of the laptop does most of the actions quietly. The Core Duo processor of the laptop does all the functions quite easily. 1GB of RAM helps in its smooth running. This laptop performs the daily utility of the user very well without having any problem. But one problem with Asus S6Fm is that it is not made for gaming.
Conclusion
On the whole if you look at the keypad, some of the directional keys are quite difficult to use. But still the wrist pad is cushioned with leather which provides comfort to your wrists.
The screen is fine and puts no strain at all on the eyes but it is not very large. The laptop is good for an office person who has to attend meeting of high-class executives, but it can’t be recommended to people who want the gaming experience on their Laptops.
