Netbooks: Another Revolution in Computers

With the fast evolving and ever-changing world of technology, notebooks were thought to be a revolution but the demand for faster, cheaper and efficient technology gave birth to Netbooks. Netbooks are smaller cousins of notebooks. They are meant for only internet-based services like web browsing and e-mailing, etc. They are lightweight, compact and easy to carry netbooks are very small and energy-efficient laptops.
The netbooks have further reduced the size of the computers. Pioneered by ASUS the first netbook was pushed in the market in 2007. The model name was Asus Eee PC. The netbooks have a smaller display screen of 7″-10″ size. The netbooks have a smaller keyboard but no optical disk drive. Other hardware configuration includes 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD, advanced configuration and power interface (ACPI).
Netbooks are developed to consume lesser power and have a longer battery life in this energy-deprived world. They can provide internet connectivity virtually from anywhere. The material used in making these netbooks is very light which makes them even lighter than the traditional laptops and combined with a sleek design they take work on the move to the next level.
The netbooks come preloaded with Ubuntu Linux but the users can also install Microsoft Windows XP home edition. The Microsoft Office applications run very well thus a major target of these netbooks are the business executives who don’t have time for plunging deeper into the more sophisticated notebooks. They are actually looking for something simple to carry out their daily work.
Comparing the prices of traditional laptops with the new netbooks, Netbooks are a much economical option. As a normal laptop with a premium configuration will come for well above $1000 however, a netbook with some basic configuration is available only for $350. Although there have been trade-offs in the size, hardware and some applications but on the front of rugged operation, mobility and performance netbooks score heavily. With time, netbooks are bound to improve. They are a very good option for students, businesspersons and executives.
Asus Eee PC 1005HA, solid battery life and reasonable value

Take a brief glance at the 1005HA and you’ll have trouble telling it apart from its pricier sibling. The glossy lid and smooth sleek design combine to make the 1005HA unmistakeably gorgeous.
Put the stablemates next to each other, however, and the differences are glaringly obvious. Indeed, where the 1008HA’s captive battery allows it to remain impossibly slim, the 1005HA has a removable battery and this makes it more than a centimetre thicker.
It’s a sacrifice worth making for the extra stamina on offer, not to mention the ability to carry around multiple batteries for long journeys. You probably won’t need to resort to buying a spare, however, as its 4400mAh battery manages 6hrs 34mins on its own.
The 1005HA doesn’t lose much in the way of features. Bluetooth disappears to make some room in the budget, but draft-n wireless is still present. The larger chassis also accommodates an extra USB port, bringing the complement up to a total of three.
The keyboard can’t match those of Samsung’s netbooks, but it’s very close. With the keys stretching right to the very edges of the chassis, both the feel and layout is superb.
The dimpled trackpad might feel a little odd at first, but quickly proves very usable, and even manages to squeeze in a scroll zone along its right-hand edge.
The matte display is the only mild disappointment. Just like Samsung’s NC10 battery, the matte panel keeps reflections to a minimum at the cost of a noticeable grain across the panel. It struggles to differentiate both the lightest and darkest of shades too. But, this is no deal-breaker, and especially not considering the high brightness and strong colour reproduction.
In the final reckoning, it’s easy to overlook the 1005HA’s less-than-stellar display. It’s a good-looking, incredibly well-featured netbook at a price that leaves many of the pricier models on test looking distinctly out of touch with reality.
Samsung’s N110 battery ahead at the final furlong, but Asus deserves hearty congratulations for keeping the low-cost netbook dream alive.

Nec Versus Hewlett Packard

NEC Versa M320 versus Hewlett Packard nc6400
I personally use the HP nc6400, but i have had an opportunit of using Nec Versa M320.
Honestly, i thought Nec was a producer of TV, phones, and other gadgets until i came across it. You might never have come across some laptop notebooks that whe you see them, you will be astonished. Starting from the input devices(keyboard, and mouse), you will be disappointed. It is just to slow to be call a laptop notebook. Well, i don’t blame it, becuase it uses a Pentium 4 processor. It struggles to boot, and when you run programs on it, you will wait for eternity before it picks up itself.
I also felt tired using the keyboard, infact, the truth is, it is not comfortale using it. It is not just possible to compare the Nec versus Hewlett Packard. My HP is just to wonderful to be compared with this junk laptop computer. When it comes to speed, it is far behind, features are behind, everything seems to be behind. It however uses a 15-inch display, with a resolution of 1024×768, 40GB HDD, 512 MB RAM, and an Intel Pentium 4-M 2.2 GHz Data Bus Speed processor. It has an average light weight of 3.2 kg, with a DVD burner, which is cool. Infrared port, and many other ports are available. ANother impressive feature is its WLAN which enables you to reach the rest of the world, and some multimedia features such as CD, DVD, combo DVD/CD-RW which allows viewing to be an interesting experience.
You will be disappointed with its battery life of about 3 hours, and you may be impressed because it has operates using the Microsoft Windows XP Professional. get more info
